How to introduce Yourself

You see someone on vacation and you want to talk to them. This is how you would do it.

1. Hello – Hola (ola)

2. My name is – Me llamo (mee amo)

3. What’s your name? - ¿Cómo te llamas? (como ta jamas)

4. How are you doing? - ¿Cómo estás? (como estas)

5. I am – Yo soy/estoy

6. And you? - ¿ Y tú? (ee too)

7. Basic Emotions

~Contento (happy)

~Consado (tired)

~Infermo (sick)

~Triste(angry)

~Tranquilo (chill)

8. Nice to meet you – Mucho gusto (mooch goosto)

9. Likewise – Igualmente (Eeegwalmenteh)

A basic conversation might look like this:

A~¡Hola!

B~Hola. Me llamo B. ¿y tú?

A~Me llamo A.

B~¿Cómo estás?

A~Estoy tranquilo. ¿Y tú?

B~Estoy contento. Mucho gusto.

A~Igualmente.

How to have a basic conversation

Explanation 1: There are several questions you could use to start a conversation. Take a look at the chart below for suggestions.

In order to ask someone a question in Spanish you need to know the answers to those questions. Take a look at the chart below.

Explanation 2:New neighbors move across the street from you and your mom tells you to go and meet them. You soon find out that they only speak Spanish.


How to thank someone in spanish

Explanation 1:There are three different ways to say “thank you” and “you’re welcome” in Spanish.

If you want to just say a plain thanks you say “¡Gracias!”.

If you want to say thank you so much you can say “¡Muchas gracias!”.

If you want to say thank you soooooo much you can say “¡Muy amable, gracias!”.


In Spanish there are three ways to say you’re welcome,

1. Por nada. (pour nada)

2. De nada. (they nada)

3. No hay de qué. (No eye they kay)

Explanation 2:

You may be in a Spanish restaurant and you give the waitress a huge tip. She then thanks you in Spanish.
